Wolfsburg - Following the international unveiling of the new Passat at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2005, the Passat is making its first appearance in Asia: from 28 April Volkswagen's new mid-class saloon will be on show at the Seoul Motor Show 2005 - its launch in Asia will follow in July.

While the launch in Asia is fast approaching, the new Passat has been available to customers in Germany and most European countries since early March - since then this equally practical as elegant saloon with the new Volkswagen face has been on the roads of Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland.

The second stage of the European launch started in early April in Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Poland. The third stage followed in late April with Greece, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Croatia. In total the Passat has already been launched in 20 countries in Europe.

Alongside Korea the markets Brunei, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Indonesia will be covered in the Asia-Pacific region. In Japan und Australia the new Passat is due to be launched next year.

In Africa the Passat will be launched gradually from autumn 2005. Chile started the launch of the Passat in America in mid-April; North America will follow in early August.

The sixth generation Passat will thus be already available on all five continents in 2006, doing justice to its reputation as a "global car". Since its production started in 1973 more than13 million Passats have been built and sold worldwide.
